Our take on the Torras MiniMag 10,000mAh Slim MagSafe Power Bank

The Torras MiniMag is a 10,000mAh power bank that snaps magnetically onto MagSafe iPhones and also charges by USB-C cable. It is unusually slim at 12.7mm thick and about the size of a phone, so it rides in a pocket or small bag. Wired output tops out at 22.5W; wireless charging is slower and tops out well below that. It is rated 4 out of 5 from 57 ratings, and no current price was supplied, so check the live comparison before buying.

Best foriPhone 12 and later owners who want cable-free top-upsCommuters and travelers who want a thin pack in a pocketPeople who want one pack for both magnetic wireless and wired charging
Pros
  • Very slim at 12.7mm and light enough to hold while charging
  • 10,000mAh gives roughly two full phone charges
  • Strong magnet holds the phone in place for wireless charging
  • 22.5W USB-C wired output is fast for a pack this size
  • USB-C input at up to 3A recharges the pack reasonably quickly
Cons
  • Wireless charging is much slower than the 22.5W wired mode
  • Magnetic alignment only works with MagSafe iPhones; Android needs a magnet ring or a cable
  • Only one USB-C port, so you cannot charge two devices by cable at once
  • No display; you get LED dots or similar for battery level, not a percentage
  • Wireless charging wastes power as heat, so real capacity is below 10,000mAh

  • Handy as a backup for a full day out

  • Price is high next to plain 10,000mAh packs

Questions and answers

Is the Torras MiniMag worth it?
It is worth it if you want a thin magnetic pack for an iPhone and will use wireless charging often. If you mostly charge by cable, a cheaper 10,000mAh pack with 20W+ output does the same job for less.
How fast does it charge an iPhone?
Wired over USB-C it can reach 22.5W, which is enough to fill most iPhones in about two hours. Wireless MagSafe charging is much slower and will take considerably longer.
Will it work with a non-MagSafe phone?
It charges any phone over the USB-C cable. The magnetic wireless mode needs an iPhone 12 or later, or an Android phone with a MagSafe-compatible ring or case.
What is in the box?
You get the power bank and a USB-C to USB-C cable. A wall charger is not included, so you need your own USB-C power adapter.
Can I take it on a plane?
Yes. At 10,000mAh it is well under the 100Wh carry-on limit most airlines use, but it must go in carry-on baggage, not checked luggage.
When is it cheapest?
Magnetic power banks usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Check the price history on this page before buying to see whether the current price is above or below its usual level.
