Is the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS worth it?

Yes for a basic, roomy 1000-watt microwave. It heats evenly, cleans easily and costs less than inverter models. Skip it if you need convection or a compact footprint.

How does it compare with the smaller Toshiba EM925A5A?

The EM131A5C-BS is 1.2 cu ft versus 0.9 cu ft on the EM925A5A, so it fits larger plates but takes more counter space. Both are 1000 watts with similar keypads.

What is the difference between 1000 watts and 1100 watts on the label?

1000 watts is the microwave cooking output. The 1100 to 1550 watt figures are input power draw from the outlet, which is normal for a unit this size.

Does it need a special outlet?

It runs on standard 120-volt household current but draws up to about 1550 watts, so use a dedicated circuit and avoid sharing the outlet with another high-draw appliance.

What comes in the box?

The microwave, a glass turntable, a turntable ring and roller guide, and the manual. No trim kit is included; it is a countertop unit.
