The Tapo Outdoor Battery-Powered Wireless 2K Security Camera is a wire-free 2K camera with a 150° field of view, color night vision, motion sensing and a built-in spotlight, sold here as a four-camera kit with solar panels. The solar panels keep the batteries topped up in decent sun, so you rarely climb a ladder to recharge. It works with Google Assistant and Alexa and records locally to a microSD card or a Tapo hub. The latest best price for the four-unit kit is $349.99 at Amazon as of November 3, near the low end of its recent range.
Lowest price we've seen: $742.48 on Nov 2 at Sears. Tracked across 1 store since Nov 2.
Owners rate the kit 4.5 out of 5 across 121 ratings. Most praise the sharp 2K picture, the wide view and how little maintenance the solar panels need. Complaints center on motion alerts and battery drain in cloudy weather.
