Is the Travelpro Platinum Elite Compact Carry-On worth it?

It suits travelers who want a tough hardside carry-on with premium wheels and a built-in lock. The 9-lb weight and missing battery are the main trade-offs to weigh.

Does it fit major airline carry-on limits?

At 20 x 14 inches it fits most US carry-on sizers, but the shell can bulge past 9 inches deep when packed. Check your airline's depth limit if you fly strict carriers.

Is the battery included?

No. The external pocket and USB port are there, but you supply your own power bank.

How does it compare to the softside Platinum Elite?

The hardside version protects contents better and resists scratches, while the softside typically offers exterior pockets and lighter weight.

The suitcase, a built-in TSA lock and the USB pass-through setup. No battery is included.

Our take on the Travelpro Platinum Elite Compact Carry-On Hardside Spinner

The Travelpro Platinum Elite Compact Carry-On is a 20-inch hardside spinner built for short trips and tight overhead bins. It pairs eight MagnaTrac self-aligning wheels and a PowerScope Lite handle with a textured shell, aluminum corner armor, a built-in TSA lock and a 2-inch expansion zipper. A USB port and external battery pocket let you charge a phone on the move, though the battery is not included. It weighs 9 lbs, so check airline carry-on limits before packing it full.
