Questions and answers

Is Trex Select worth the price over wood?
It costs more upfront than pressure-treated wood, but you skip yearly staining and replacement. Most owners break even over several years of low upkeep.
Can I use it for a ground-level deck?
Yes. Trex rates Select for ground-contact use, and the capped surface handles moisture. Keep the usual joist spacing and ventilation under the deck.
What fasteners does the grooved board need?
Use Trex hidden deck clips in the grooves between boards. The outer edge board needs a fascia or edge screw, since it has only one groove.
How does it compare to Trex Enhance?
Select has a more realistic, multi-tonal grain and a longer warranty than the entry-level Enhance line. Enhance is the cheaper pick for budget decks.
When is it cheapest?
Decking promos usually run in late winter and early spring before building season. The best new price was $78.22 at Jaeger Lumber as of November 5, 2026.
