Our take on the Tripp Lite P006-006-2 6-ft Power Extension Cord Splitter (NEMA 5-15P to 2x NEMA 5-15R)

The Tripp Lite P006-006-2 is a 6-foot Y-style extension cord that turns one grounded NEMA 5-15 outlet into two. It is rated 10 A at 125 V (1.25 kW) and uses an SJTW jacket, so it handles a computer, monitor and small peripherals without complaint. It is a plain splitter, not a surge protector or power conditioner. At $15.95 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is this a surge protector?
No. It is a passive splitter cord with no surge suppression, breaker or switch. Pair it with a surge protector if you need protection.
Can I plug a space heater into it?
No. The cord is rated 10 A at 125 V, about 1.25 kW. Heaters, kettles and other high-draw appliances exceed that and should go straight into a wall outlet.
What is in the box?
Just the splitter cord: one NEMA 5-15P male plug to two NEMA 5-15R female outlets on a 6-foot SJTW cord.
Does it work with a standard US outlet?
Yes. The 5-15P plug fits any grounded 15 A household receptacle, and the two 5-15R outlets accept standard three-prong plugs.
Is it cheaper anywhere else?
