Is the Tropow gravity filter worth it at $74.53?

At $74.53 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get stainless steel gravity filtration without plumbing. The value depends on filter replacement cost, which is not included beyond the first pair.

What does the two-stage carbon filter remove?

The coconut-shell carbon filters target chlorine, sediment and odors. They do not remove dissolved minerals, fluoride or bacteria, so do not use it on untreated surface water without separate disinfection.

How long do the filters last?

Tropow rates the two included filters at up to 6,000 gallons combined. Actual life depends on your water quality; replace them when flow slows or taste changes.

Does it need electricity or a faucet connection?

No. It is freestanding and gravity-fed, so you pour water into the top and it drains through the spigot. That makes it usable in RVs, cabins and during outages.

Two black carbon filters, one metal spigot with a water level gauge and one metal stand. No plumbing parts are needed.

It measures 12.2 by 11.8 by 16.1 inches and holds 2.25 gallons. Check your counter depth before buying, since the stand adds footprint.
