Questions and answers

Will this latch fit my U.S. General Series 3 top chest?
It is listed for the 56" x 22" Series 3 top chest in Red (item 58712) and also for the Blue, White, Green, Yellow, Slate Gray, Orange and Black versions. It is diagram part #2, so check your chest's parts diagram before ordering.
How many latches come in the kit?
The listing describes a single drawer latch kit, not a set for all eight drawers. If several drawers are affected, you will likely need more than one kit.
How long does shipping take?
Chalmers Industries Inc lists it as a special order item, which can take several additional days to arrive beyond normal shipping time.
Is $12.99 a good price for this part?
It is the best new price among the two stores listing it as of November 8, 2026. For a small replacement part, that is in line with typical hardware pricing.
Does it come with screws or mounting hardware?
The listing does not state whether screws or other mounting hardware are included. Confirm with the seller before ordering if you are missing fasteners too.
Will it fit a Series 2 or a bottom cabinet?
No. It is specified for the Series 3 56" x 22" top chest only, so it is not a match for earlier series or for the rolling bottom cabinets.
Where is the U.S. General 56" x 22" Top Chest, Series 3, Red Medium 969mm Drawer Latch Kit (604997) cheapest?
At Chalmers Industries Inc, for $12.99, as of our latest check.
