Questions and answers

Is 88,000 BTU enough for my pool?

It suits large pools, roughly in the 25,000 to 35,000 gallon range in a warm climate. Smaller pools will heat faster, and cold-climate use will cut effective output.

Does it need a dedicated electrical circuit?

A heat pump of this size draws high current and typically needs its own breaker and wiring run by a licensed electrician. Check the nameplate rating before buying.

Is the missing NRTL listing a problem?

It can be. Many inspectors and utilities require a UL or ETL listing for pool equipment, so confirm local rules before you buy.

Can it cool the pool as well as heat it?

Most heat pumps in this class only heat. Do not assume cooling or automatic reversing unless the seller states it.

What is a fair price for it?

The only new price listed is $2,099.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026. Comparable 88,000 BTU heat pumps often sell in the $2,000 to $3,000 range, so this sits at the low end.

What comes in the box?

Expect the heat pump unit and basic fittings. Plumbing adapters, a bypass kit and installation hardware are often sold separately, so check the listing contents.

Where is the Varpoolfaye 88,000 BTU Electric Pool Heat Pump cheapest?

At Walmart, for $2,099.99, as of our latest check.
