Our take on the VEVOR Wood Router 1 HP 710W Variable Speed Palm Router with Fixed, Plunge and Tilt Base

The VEVOR 1 HP palm router is a 710W trim router that ships with three bases: fixed, plunge and tilt. Variable speed and soft start help it handle both softwoods and harder stock without the jolt of a full-size router. It uses standard 1/4-inch collets, so common bits fit. It is a budget-priced entry into trim routing rather than a pro-shop tool.

Pros
  • Three bases in one kit: fixed, plunge and tilt
  • Variable speed and soft start for controlled starts
  • 1/4-inch collet takes widely available bits

  • Low price for a multi-base package
Cons
  • 1 HP limits it to light cuts in hardwoods
  • Budget build quality; plastic and fit may feel rough
  • Depth adjustment and base clamps are less precise than premium brands
  • No dust collection or case in most listings
  • Not suited to raised panels or heavy production work

Questions and answers

Is the VEVOR palm router worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you need occasional edge trimming and small grooves. It covers fixed, plunge and tilt work at a low price. Expect to upgrade if you route hardwoods often.
Does it take standard router bits?
It uses a 1/4-inch collet, the most common shank size for palm routers. Bits from major brands fit directly.
What is the difference between the fixed, plunge and tilt bases?
The fixed base is for edge work at a set depth. The plunge base lets you lower the bit into the work for stopped cuts. The tilt base angles the motor for chamfers and sloped edges.
Can it cut hardwood?
In light passes, yes, but 1 HP is limited. Take shallow depths of cut and let the variable speed setting match the bit and wood.
What comes in the box?
The kit includes the motor unit, fixed base, plunge base and tilt base. Check the listing for whether a wrench, guide or case is included, since bundles vary.
When is it cheapest?
VEVOR tools tend to drop during seasonal sales and clearance events. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
