Is the APS1550e worth it over a gas plate compactor?

If you work indoors, in trenches or where noise and fumes are a problem, yes. The zero-emission, low-noise design is the main reason to pay more. For open outdoor sites with long shifts, a gas unit still runs cheaper per hour.

How long do the two BOB10 batteries last?

Runtime depends on soil and vibration setting, so expect well under a full day of continuous work from the pair. Most users keep a spare set charging and swap mid-shift. Exact figures are not published for this configuration.

What is included in the standard kit?

Two BOB10 lithium-ion batteries and one BOC7 charger, along with the compactor itself. Check that the seller lists the kit, since bare-tool listings exist.

What size plate does it have and what can it compact?

A 500 mm (about 20 in) plate with roughly 16 kN of centrifugal force. That suits granular soil, gravel and small paving jobs, not deep lifts of heavy clay.

Can it be used in cold weather?

The rated range is 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F). Below freezing, battery performance drops and charging should be done indoors.

When is the price lowest?

Battery-powered plates tend to discount in late fall and winter, outside the construction season. Watch the price history rather than buying at the first listing you see.

Our take on the Wacker Neuson APS1550e Vibratory Plate Compactor Standard Kit

The APS1550e is a battery-powered vibratory plate compactor for soil and gravel work in trenches, patios and small paving jobs. It runs on two BOB10 lithium-ion batteries with a BOC7 charger included in the standard kit, and it delivers about 16 kN of centrifugal force through a 500 mm (20 in) plate. It weighs roughly 169 lb and produces no exhaust, so it suits indoor, basement and enclosed-site work where gas units are unwelcome. The standard kit bundles the batteries and charger, so the entry price covers a working setup rather than a bare tool.
