Is this mat self-inflating?

No. It is a plain foam pad with no air chamber, valve or pump. It cannot deflate, but it also gives no adjustable firmness.

How thick is it, and is that enough?

It is 0.5 inch thick. That is fine as a barrier or on top of a cot, but most people sleeping on the ground will want a thicker pad or an air mattress.

It is 72 inches long and about 24 inches wide, sized for one sleeper. Rolled up it measures 24 by 7 inches and weighs 1.1 lb.

Does it come with a carry strap?

Yes, a carrying strap is included. There is no stuff sack or pump in the box.

Is $31.99 a good price?

That is the best new price across 3 stores as of November 7, 2026, at Kohl's. For a foam pad this thin, it is a fair entry price rather than a bargain.

Can it be used on a cot?

Yes. Cot use is its main strength: the ribbed surface grips the cot and the thin foam softens the fabric without adding height.

Our take on the Wakeman Foam Camping Sleep Mat

The Wakeman Foam Camping Sleep Mat is a thin closed-cell-style foam pad, 72 inches long and about 24 inches wide, that rolls to 24 by 7 inches and weighs 1.1 lb. It has no inflation, no valves and no pump, so it cannot leak or deflate, and the ribbed non-slip surface on both sides keeps it from sliding on a cot or tent floor. At 0.5 inch thick it is a barrier and cushion layer, not a mattress. Its best new price is $31.99 at Kohl's as of November 7, 2026, with 3 stores pricing it new.

Light at 1.1 lb and rolls to 24 by 7 inches
Ribbed non-slip surface on both sides
Carrying strap included
Wipes clean; vinyl and EVA shell resists damp ground

Cons

About 24 inches wide, narrower than many adult pads
Bulkier rolled than an air pad of the same weight
Foam and vinyl can feel stiff and noisy at first
