How long does each straw last?

Waterdrop rates each straw for up to 1,400 gallons. That is roughly two years of daily drinking water for one person, or many trips for occasional use.

Does it filter viruses?

No. It uses activated carbon, which reduces chlorine, taste, odor and some chemicals but is not rated to remove viruses. For backcountry water where viruses are a concern, use a hollow-fiber or UV purifier.

Can I use it on muddy water?

It works best on clear water. Sediment clogs the carbon quickly, so let dirty water settle or pre-filter it through cloth first.

Two filter straws and a carry pouch. No bottles or replacement filters are included.

Is $9.09 a good price?

Yes. At $9.09 for two straws at eBay as of November 7, 2026, it is a low entry price for a backup filter; comparable single straws often cost more.

Can I drink from a bottle with it?

Yes. Drop the straw into a bottle or cup and sip through it. It also works directly from a stream, though suction is needed either way.
