Is 34 pints enough for my basement?

The 34-pint figure is measured at 95°F and 90% RH, so in a cool basement expect noticeably less. It suits a damp basement up to roughly 1,000-1,500 sq ft; for wetter or larger spaces, size up.

Do I have to empty the tank?

Not if you use the included drain hose. Connect it for gravity drainage and the unit runs continuously; otherwise the 0.6-gallon tank needs emptying every few hours in heavy humidity.

Waykar rates it at 40-43 dB depending on mode, about the level of a quiet conversation. That is fine for a basement or hallway but noticeable in a bedroom at night.

Does it work in a cold garage?

Poorly. It is a compressor dehumidifier, so below about 41°F coil frost cuts output and efficiency. For unheated spaces, look at a desiccant model.

What comes in the box?

The unit, a drain hose and the electrostatic filter. No pump is included, so drainage relies on gravity.

Dehumidifier prices peak in summer humidity season and drop in fall and winter. Watch the price history and buy outside peak demand.
