Our take on the Webasto Air Top 2000 STC Diesel Air Heater Kit

The Webasto Air Top 2000 STC is a 12V diesel-fired forced-air heater that puts out 2 kW, enough to warm a truck cab, van, small cabin or boat. It draws only 14 to 29 W depending on the heating stage, so it runs far leaner than an electric space heater. The kit includes the SmarTemp 3.0 BT controller for app and Bluetooth scheduling. At $625.09 at Truckliner Parts as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores listing it new.

Best forTruck and van owners who sleep in the cab in cold weatherBoat and marine users needing a moisture-resistant heaterOff-grid cabins and workshops with 12V powerBuyers who want a factory-brand diesel heater with app control
Pros
  • Low 14–29 W draw leaves battery capacity for other loads
  • Compact 2.6 kg unit fits tight install spaces
  • SmarTemp 3.0 BT controller adds app control and scheduling
  • Stainless steel build and marine-grade moisture resistance
  • Standard installation included in the kit
Cons
  • 2 kW output suits small spaces only, not whole homes
  • Needs a diesel fuel tap and exhaust routing, so install is involved
  • Premium price versus generic Chinese diesel heaters
  • 60 mm duct limits airflow to about 105 m³/h
  • 12V only; no 24V option in this listing

Questions and answers

Is the Webasto Air Top 2000 STC worth it over a cheaper diesel heater?
If you need dependable cold starts, low power draw and a marine-rated build, the Webasto's track record justifies the premium. Budget heaters cost far less but often lack app control and consistent quality.
How much space will 2 kW heat?
It is rated for small to medium spaces: a truck sleeper, van, small cabin or boat cabin. It will not carry a large house or an uninsulated garage in deep cold.
What is in the kit?
The heater unit, the SmarTemp 3.0 BT controller and standard installation hardware. Check the listing for ducting and fuel line lengths before ordering.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes. The SmarTemp 3.0 BT controller supports Bluetooth scheduling and app control, so you can start the heater before you get in.
Does it work on a boat?
Yes. The unit is built to resist moisture and marine environments, which is one reason it is common on boats.
When is it cheapest?
The $625.09 at Truckliner Parts as of November 5, 2026 is at the low end of its recent range. With only two stores listing it new, watch for stock changes rather than deep seasonal discounts.
