West Elm Miles Upholstered Standard Bed

Our take on the West Elm Miles Upholstered Standard Bed

The Miles is West Elm's upholstered platform-style bed, built on an oak frame with a padded headboard and a slatted base that supports a mattress without a box spring. It comes in multiple sizes, including King, and the upholstery gives it a softer, hotel-like look than a plain wood frame. The best new price is $1,519.20 at west elm as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper new option to compare against right now.

Questions and answers

Is the West Elm Miles bed worth $1,519.20?

It is a fair price for an oak-framed, upholstered king bed from a mainstream brand. If you want a padded headboard and included slats, it is reasonable; if you mainly want a wood bed, cheaper options exist.

Do I need a box spring with the Miles bed?

No. The bed ships with slats, so a standard mattress can sit directly on them. A box spring would only add height.

What sizes does the Miles bed come in?

West Elm sells the Miles in several sizes, from Twin through King, though availability varies by size and upholstery choice. The King is the size priced here.

Is the frame solid wood?

The frame is oak, a hardwood that holds up better than pine or particle board. The headboard is upholstered over the frame.

When is the Miles bed cheapest?

West Elm runs seasonal furniture sales, often around major holidays, and the bed has sold below list during those events. With only one store listing it new, watch west elm's own promotions.

How hard is it to assemble?

Expect a couple of hours and two people. The frame and headboard are heavy, and attaching the slats is the fiddly part.

Where is the West Elm Miles Upholstered Standard Bed cheapest?

At west elm, for $1,519.20, as of our latest check.
