Our take on the WholeHearted Grain Free All Life Stages Salmon and Pea Recipe Dry Dog Food

A 25 lb bag of grain-free dry dog food built on salmon and peas, sold as an all-life-stages formula with added omega-3, omega-6, zinc and vitamins A and E, and marketed for digestive health. It is a house-brand food, so it undercuts most national grain-free salmon formulas. The best new price is $54.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is this food good for puppies?
It is labeled all life stages, so it is formulated to meet puppy and adult needs. Check the feeding guide on the bag for puppy portions, which are larger per pound of body weight.
Is it really grain free?
Yes, the formula contains no wheat, corn, rice or other grains. Peas supply much of the carbohydrate.
How long does a 25 lb bag last?
For a 50 lb dog eating roughly 2 to 2.5 cups a day, expect about three to four weeks. Small dogs stretch it much further.
Is it cheaper than Blue Buffalo or Purina Pro Plan salmon formulas?
At $54.99 for 25 lb it is usually well below comparable grain-free salmon bags from national brands. Compare per-pound prices, since bag sizes differ.
When is the price lowest?
House-brand dry food tends to dip during store promotions and around the holidays. The current $54.99 at Walmart is the best new price among the two stores listing it as of November 7, 2026.
Should I worry about the grain-free and peas link to heart disease?
The FDA investigated grain-free, pea-heavy diets and DCM in dogs but did not establish cause. Ask your vet before feeding a grain-free diet, especially to breeds prone to heart disease.
Where is the WholeHearted Grain Free All Life Stages Salmon and Pea Recipe Dry Dog Food cheapest?
At Walmart, for $54.99, as of our latest check.
