Our take on the World Market Red Bloody Bulb LED Battery Operated String Lights with Timer

These are a 6-foot strand of red LED bulbs shaped like dripping blood, battery powered and made by World Market for Halloween decorating. A built-in timer turns them on and off on a set schedule, so you don't have to remember to switch them each night. The 6-foot length suits a doorway, mantel, window or small prop rather than a whole porch. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is this worth buying for one Halloween?
If you want a quick, cord-free accent for a doorway or mantel, yes. For a full porch display you would need several strands, which adds up.
How does the timer work?
The timer switches the lights on and off on a repeating cycle, typically 6 hours on and 18 off. Set it once at dusk and it repeats daily until the batteries die or you reset it.
What batteries does it take?
It runs on standard batteries in a small pack on the strand, usually AA or AAA. Check the pack label, since the exact size is not listed here, and expect to replace them after a few weeks of nightly use.
Can I use these outdoors?
The battery pack is the weak point in rain. Keep it sheltered, such as under a porch roof or inside a covered prop, rather than exposed to direct weather.
How much area does 6 feet cover?
About the width of a standard door or the length of a mantel. Plan on two or more strands for a porch railing or a large window.
When is the best time to buy?
Halloween decor is cheapest right after October 31 and again in early September before stock sells down. Buy before mid-October if you need a specific look.
