Our take on the Xbox Series X Just Dance

This is a digital download code for Just Dance on Xbox Series X and Series S, not a physical disc. It needs an internet connection to redeem and download, and online play requires an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription. The price has held at $23.99 at the tracked store since October 28, 2026, so there is no cheaper day in the recent record.

Best forFamilies and party hosts who want a dance game for group playOwners of a digital-only Xbox Series SBuyers who want the game without waiting for a discCasual players who prefer motion play over story games
Pros
  • Works on both Xbox Series X and Series S
  • Download edition, so no disc to swap or lose
  • Song-based play suits parties and short sessions
  • Usually cheaper than buying at full launch price
Cons
  • No disc, so it cannot be resold or lent
  • Requires a broadband connection to redeem and download
  • Online multiplayer needs a paid Game Pass subscription
  • Phone-based motion controls are less precise than a camera

What reviewers say

Just Dance entries on Xbox are generally received as solid party games rather than deep solo experiences. Owners tend to enjoy the song list and group play, while criticising the subscription push and the phone-as-controller setup.

Pros
  • Fun with friends and family in the same room
  • Large, regularly updated song catalogue
  • Easy for beginners and kids to pick up
Cons
  • Phone controller app can be fiddly to connect
  • Much of the best content sits behind a paid subscription
  • Repetitive when played alone

Questions and answers

Is this a disc or a download?
It is a download edition. You get a code to redeem on your Xbox account, then download the game to the console.
Does it work on Xbox Series S?
Yes. It runs on both Xbox Series X and the disc-free Series S.
Do I need Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass to play?
Only for online play. Local dancing with people in the room does not need a subscription, but online multiplayer does.
What do I use as a controller?
You use your phone with the Just Dance controller app, or a Kinect sensor if you still have one set up on a compatible console.
Is $23.99 a good price?
It matches the lowest tracked price, $23.99, seen since October 28, 2026, so it is as cheap as it has been in that window. Waiting is unlikely to help unless a new sale appears.
Is it worth it over the previous Just Dance?
If you already own a recent entry and dance mostly solo, the upgrade is hard to justify. For parties and families, the newer song list makes it the better pick.
