Is the Yamaha P-525 worth it over the P-515?

The P-525 keeps the GrandTouch-S action and VRM sound of the P-515 in a lighter, slimmer body with easier Bluetooth MIDI. If you already own a P-515, the upgrade is mainly portability and connectivity rather than a new action.

Can I use the P-525 with a piano app or DAW?

Yes. It has USB MIDI and Bluetooth MIDI, so it works with piano-learning apps and recording software without an audio interface.

How heavy is the Yamaha P-525?

It weighs 22 kg (about 48.5 lb) and measures 1336 mm wide. It is movable by two people but heavy for one person to carry regularly.

Does the P-525 have built-in speakers?

Yes, it has onboard speakers, though their output is modest. For a larger room or performance use, plan on external speakers or headphones.

When is the P-525 cheapest?

Its best new price was $1,799.99 at Guitar Center as of November 5, 2026, with two stores pricing it new. Holiday and back-to-school sales are the usual times to watch for discounts.

Our take on the Yamaha P-525 Portable Piano

The Yamaha P-525 is an 88-key portable digital piano with the GrandTouch-S keyboard: wooden white keys with synthetic ebony and ivory tops, graded weighting and touch sensitivity. It adds Virtual Resonance Modeling, a metronome, USB and Bluetooth MIDI, and a single FC3A sustain pedal in the box; the L515 wooden stand and LP-1 three-pedal unit are sold separately. At 22 kg and 1336 mm wide it is a stay-at-home piano that can travel, not a gigging slab. Its best new price is $1,799.99 at Guitar Center as of November 5, 2026, with two stores pricing it new.
