Questions and answers

Is the Yoshiharu MRG-5 carving set worth it?
At $18.69 at Hand-Tools.com as of November 7, 2026, it is a reasonable starter set for occasional carving. If you carve often, spend more on a set with harder steel and better edge retention.
What is included in the set?
It is a carving set, so expect a carving knife and a matching carving fork. Check the listing for the exact piece count before ordering.
How should I care for the alloy steel blades?
Hand wash and dry immediately after use. Alloy steel can spot or rust if left wet, and it should not go in the dishwasher.
Is the rubber handle comfortable?
Rubber handles give a secure grip, especially with greasy hands. They feel softer and less premium than wood handles.
How does it compare with a Japanese knife like a Shun or Miyabi?
Those use harder steels and finer finishes and cost many times more. The MRG-5 is a budget set for light use, not a long-term investment.
When is the price lowest?
It has been near the bottom of its recent range at $18.69 as of November 7, 2026. Watch for holiday sales, when carving sets often drop.
Where is the Yoshiharu MRG-5 Japanese Carving Set cheapest?
At Hand-Tools.com, for $18.69, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Yoshiharu MRG-5 Japanese Carving Set?
6 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, Hand-Tools.com, By-The-Sword, Discount Cutlery, Knife Country, USA.
