Our take on the Zorro Radio Controller (M2)

The RadioMaster Zorro is a compact hobby RC transmitter for drones and fixed-wing models. It uses hall-sensor gimbals with adjustable stick travel, a bright LCD, a nano external module bay, USB-C charging and data, and RadioMaster's 7-button menu system. It comes in several RF versions, including CC2500, 4-in-1, ELRS, ELRS starter set, and a CC2500 plus TBS Crossfire combo. The CC2500 version covers common 2.4 GHz protocols such as FrSky D16 and D8, but not Crossfire or ELRS without an added module.

Best forFPV pilots who want a small, light transmitter
Beginners buying a first radio for a 2.4 GHz receiver
Pilots who fly indoors or travel with gear
Simulator users who want USB-C plug-and-play
Pros
  • Hall-sensor gimbals resist wear and drift better than potentiometers
  • Compact body with a large screen in the top viewing position
  • Nano module bay accepts ELRS, Crossfire and other external modules
  • USB-C charging and a separate USB-C data port for simulators and firmware
  • Rear and top assignable buttons plus scroll wheels for quick access
Cons
  • CC2500 version cannot run ELRS or Crossfire without an external module
  • Small size can feel cramped for large hands or pinch grip flyers
  • No built-in telemetry screen beyond the basic LCD; advanced setup needs EdgeTX menus
  • Battery is not included in the base package

Questions and answers

Is the CC2500 version worth it over the ELRS version?
Only if your receivers use CC2500 protocols like FrSky D16 or D8. If you fly ELRS, buy the ELRS version or plan to add an ELRS nano module, since the CC2500 radio cannot talk to ELRS receivers on its own.
Does the Zorro work with Crossfire?
Not built in. The CC2500 version needs a TBS Crossfire nano module in the external bay, or you can buy the CC2500 plus TBS Nano Crossfire combo.
Can I use the Zorro with a flight simulator?
Yes. The USB-C data port connects to a PC for simulators, and the radio can also charge over USB-C.
What battery does the Zorro use?
It runs on 2x 18650 cells, which are not included in the base package. Check the version listing for whether a battery is bundled.
Is the Zorro good for beginners?
It is a common first radio because of the price and hall gimbals. Budget time to learn EdgeTX menus, and pick the RF version that matches your receivers.
How does it compare to the RadioMaster TX16S?
The Zorro is much smaller and lighter, with fewer switches and no color touchscreen. The TX16S suits pilots who want more channels, switches and a larger screen.
What do buyers say about the Zorro Radio Controller (M2)?
Rated 5 out of 5 from 3 ratings.
