Is Zote white bar the same as the pink bar?

No. The white bar is the plain soap; the pink bar adds optical brighteners. Both clean the same way, but the pink one is meant to keep whites looking brighter.

Can I use Zote in a high-efficiency washing machine?

It is best used as a pre-treater, rubbed on stains before washing. Using the bar alone in an HE machine can leave residue, so pair it with an HE detergent for the main wash.

How many loads does one bar cover?

Zote lists 61 to 70 loads per bar. In practice that depends on how much you rub on for pre-treating; hand washers often get more.

Is $17.49 a good price?

That is on the high side for a Zote bar. Two stores list it new as of November 7, 2026, so compare the other store before buying.

Does it work in cold water?

Yes. Zote is commonly used for cold-water hand washing and pre-treating, though it dissolves more slowly than liquid detergent.

Our take on the Zote Laundry Soap Bar, White

Zote is a large bar of pink-and-white laundry soap sold in Mexico and the US, used for hand washing and as a stain pre-treater. The white bar is the plain version, without the added optical brighteners of the pink bar. A bar is cheap and lasts a long time, and it is a common pick for cold-water hand washing and for treating collars, cuffs and grease spots before a machine wash. At $17.49 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026, the price sits at the top of what this bar usually sells for, so it is worth checking the second store before buying.
