Zwilling recommends hand washing Four Star knives. Dishwasher heat and detergent can dull the edge and wear the handle over time.

Four Star uses a molded plastic handle with a metal bolster; Pro uses a curved bolster and a different handle shape. Both are German-made stainless steel lines, with Pro generally priced higher.

What is the slicer knife best for?

The long, narrow blade is made for carving roasts, poultry and ham into even slices. The fork holds the meat steady while you cut.
