Best 6-foot round area rugs

Top pick: the 6 ft floral washable round rug — it's the one that gets the basics right: a true 6-foot circle, soft underfoot, non-slip backing and machine-washable, so it works in a busy living room or under a small dining table without fuss.

Who the others suit:

• Sage green low-pile round rug — if you want a calm, solid colour that hides crumbs and vacuums easily; low pile is the practical choice for dining chairs and doorways.
• Blue roses 6 ft round — for a softer, more decorative look in a bedroom or reading nook.
• Ivory and blue La Jolla round — the most traditional, patterned option if you're dressing a formal room.
• Braided jute round — natural texture and a casual, coastal feel; best in a low-traffic spot since jute isn't washable.
• Plush shag round — cosiest underfoot for a bedroom, but it traps dust and is harder to clean.

Check the listed diameter before ordering: some "6 ft" listings are actually 4 ft or rectangular.
