Best Berenstain Bears box sets

Start with the Learning to Read Box Set — it's the classic Berenstain Bears starter: a proper boxed set of early-reader stories, sturdy trim size, and the widest availability of anything here. Best all-round gift for a new reader.

Who the others suit:

• Take-Along Storybook Set — small, chunky, made for the car, the bag and the waiting room.
• Storytime Collection — the biggest single volume (300+ pages), for a family that wants one book to work through at bedtime.
• Phonics Fun! 12-book set — for a child actively learning to sound out words.
• Values and Virtues Treasury — 8 stories in one, for parents who want the moral-of-the-story titles.
• Let's Go Play / School Days collections — 6-in-1 volumes with activities and stickers, good for keeping a busy kid occupied.
• Sister Bear Favorites — a small 3-in-1 for a Sister Bear fan.

If you want a single volume that covers the most ground, the Storytime Collection is the one; if you want the boxed-set feel, go with the Learning to Read set.
