Best DeWalt 20V MAX XR brushless drill driver kits

Top pick: the DeWalt 20V MAX XR Brushless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver Kit (DCD800P1). It's the current XR brushless drill/driver kit, with the metal chuck and two-speed gearbox that make it the one to buy if you want a single kit that handles deck screws and hole saws alike.

Who the others suit:

• The plain XR brushless kit — same core tool, a sensible choice if you just want the standard XR kit without paying for the DCD800 name.
• The POWERSTACK 5.0 Ah kit — for heavy users who want the compact, longer-running battery and a spare charger.
• The 3-speed kit — for precise work where a low gear and fine control matter more than price.
• The compact DCD777 kit — a lighter, cheaper drill for home jobs, but it isn't XR or brushless, so skip it if you're set on XR.
