Best home personal weather stations

Top pick: Tempest Home Weather Station. It's the one I'd buy for most homes — a single solar-powered outdoor unit with no moving cups to jam, a 1,000+ ft wireless range, and by far the strongest owner feedback here (4.9 from over 2,200 ratings). Setup is app-first, so you get your readings on a phone rather than a wall display.

Who the others suit:

• Ambient Weather WS-2000 — you want a proper indoor display plus app access and expandable sensors; the most "serious hobbyist" of the group.
• AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) — a classic all-in-one sensor with a colour console, and the most accurate temperature spec of the AcuRite line.
• ECOWITT WS2910 — a full 7-in-1 sensor (wind, rain, temp, humidity) on a tight budget, with Wi-Fi and a colour screen.
• TempPro TempAir PLUS — simple indoor/outdoor temperature, humidity and forecast; no rain or wind.
• Temtop W100 — if indoor air quality matters as much as outdoor weather.

Skip the no-name "large display" units if you want real wind and rain data.
