Best king bedroom sets

Start here: the Kings Court Grey 5-piece king storage set. It's the best all-round buy — a full king set with storage built into the bed, sold at Amazon with free shipping, and it's the one set here that's clearly marked down against what other stores charge for it. Storage beds are the practical choice if you'd rather not add a separate chest.

Who the others suit:

• Furniture of America 5-piece farmhouse set (Lowe's) — the most solid, traditional look; pick it if you want real wood and a dresser-and-mirror pairing that will age well.
• Coaster Kauffman 5-piece — a step up in finish over the budget sets without the farmhouse styling.
• Kings Brand Napa 5-piece — the classic complete set (headboard, footboard, rails, dresser, mirror, nightstands) for a traditional bedroom on a modest budget.
• Lofka 6-piece — the most pieces for the money, with a bookcase headboard; good for a teen's or guest room.
• VanAcc 3-piece fluted set — if you already own a dresser and just need the bed and two nightstands in a modern oak look.
• Brown rustic upholstered 6-piece with storage bench — for a warmer, upholstered look with a bench at the foot of the bed.

Two cautions: the LUXOAK listing is a frame only, not a set, and the Asofer "5 pieces" is a queen-width frame, so neither is a true king bedroom set.
