Best large-scale RC cars

Top pick: Arrma Kraton 8S BLX EXB — a true 1/5-scale monster truck built on Arrma's EXB (Extreme Bash) spec, so it takes jumps and crashes that break lesser trucks, and parts are easy to find at any hobby shop. Best all-round big basher.

Who the others suit:

• Arrma Outcast 8S — same platform, shorter wheelbase: flips and stunts rather than long high-speed runs.
• Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0 (1/6) — scale desert-truck looks and huge suspension travel for open dirt.
• Team Corally Kagama XP 6S — a cheaper way into big-scale 6S power.
• NSR 5XL-E 1/5 — brushless 8S speed on a budget.
• ROFUN LT450 45cc — for gas-engine fans who want long run times and no charging.
