Best Nintendo Switch handheld consoles

Top pick: Nintendo Switch 2. It's the newest generation, so it plays everything coming out now, and it works both handheld and docked to a TV — the 7.9-inch 1080p HDR screen with up to 120 Hz is the best handheld display Nintendo has made. Buy it if you want to be set for the next few years.

Who the others suit:

• Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle — same console with a game included; the better value if you'd buy Mario Kart anyway.
• Switch OLED — the pick if you mostly play handheld and want the punchiest screen for less; it's the previous generation, so it won't get Switch 2-only games.
• Switch Lite — cheapest and lightest, handheld only, no TV output: ideal for a kid or a second console for travel.
