Which has the better screen for gaming?

The Alienware. Its 2560x1600 OLED runs at 240Hz with 500 nits, while the ASUS uses a 1920x1200 IPS-level panel at 165Hz. The Alienware wins on sharpness, contrast and motion.

Which is faster for video editing and 3D work?

The ASUS. Its Core i9-14900HX has 24 cores and 32 threads, well ahead of the Alienware's Ultra 7 for multi-threaded renders. Both use the same RTX 5060 GPU class.

Is the ASUS worth the extra $400?

Only if you need CPU-heavy work or plan to upgrade RAM and storage. For gaming on the built-in screen, the Alienware's OLED and lower price make it the better buy.

Which is easier to upgrade?

The ASUS. It has two RAM sockets (up to 96GB) and two M.2 slots. The Alienware's listed configs top out lower and offer less documented expansion.

Which runs cooler and quieter?

Neither is silent. Alienware buyers complain it heats up quickly and the fans are loud; the ASUS uses a 280W adapter and a larger 90Wh battery, which suggests more thermal headroom, but expect fan noise under load from both.

Which lasts longer on battery?

The ASUS, on paper. It has a 90Wh battery with 100W USB-C charging; the Alienware is rated at about 6 hours. Neither is an all-day machine for gaming.
