Which is better for reading in bed at night?

Both have adjustable warm light and a glare-free E Ink screen. The 2026 model adds a larger 7-inch screen, which means fewer page turns. The older model's warm light can be scheduled, which helps at night.

Is the 2026 Paperwhite worth the extra money?

At $186.00 at Fishpond.com versus $40.00 at eBay as of November 6, 2026, you pay a lot for a slightly larger screen, faster page turns and ePub support. If those matter, yes; if you just want to read cheaply, no.

Which one lasts longer?

Both are rated at up to 10 weeks of battery life per charge. The 2026 model has a newer oxide thin-film transistor backplane, but neither listing gives a battery lifespan in years.

Can I read library books on both?

Both work with Amazon's Kindle ecosystem and public library lending through it. The 2026 model also opens ePub files directly, which the older model does not.

Which is better for travel?

The older model is lighter at 7.2 oz and both are waterproof. The 2026 model's 16 GB standard storage holds more books for long trips.

Does the 2026 model come with ads?

Yes. The Fishpond.com listing states ads are included. The older model's listing does not mention ads.
