Ariens Deluxe 28 SHO Two-Stage Snow Blower vs Ariens ST28DLE Deluxe SHO 28-Inch

These are the same machine sold under two model names: the Ariens Deluxe 28 SHO and the ST28DLE Deluxe SHO 28 share a 301cc engine, 28-inch clearing width, 21-inch intake, Auto-Turn steering and a 14-inch serrated steel auger. Both list at $1,649.00 at The Home Depot as of November 3, 2026, so price does not separate them. Buy whichever listing has the model number you want and the better delivery or pickup terms; there is no performance reason to pay more for one over the other.

Ariens ST28DLE Deluxe SHO 28-Inch

Questions and answers

Are the Deluxe 28 SHO and the ST28DLE the same snow blower?
By the listed specs they are identical: 301cc engine, 28-inch clearing width, 21-inch intake, 267.5 lbs, Auto-Turn steering and a 14-inch serrated steel auger. Treat them as the same machine under two model names and buy on price and availability.
Which is better for a long driveway?
Either one. A 28-inch width and 21-inch intake move a lot of snow per pass, and the 62-72 tons per hour throw rate suits driveways of several car lengths. For tight turns, Auto-Turn steering on both helps with the 267.5 lb weight.
Is one worth the extra money?
No. Both are $1,649.00 at The Home Depot as of November 3, 2026, so there is no premium to justify. If one listing drops below the other, buy the cheaper one.
How long will either last?
Ariens builds these for residential and commercial use, and the cast iron gear case and steel auger are the durable parts. With regular oil changes and belt checks, a 301cc two-stage unit like this commonly runs 10 to 15 years or more.
Do I need the electric start?
It helps in cold starts, and both have it. The pull cord still works as a backup, so a dead outlet or extension cord is not a problem.
Which has better store availability?
The Deluxe 28 SHO is priced new at five stores versus two for the ST28DLE as of November 3, 2026. More stores means more chances of a sale price, local pickup or fast delivery.
