What reviewers say
Ariens Two-Stage Snow Blower Cab
Owners of Ariens two-stage blowers generally rate the cab as a worthwhile winter add-on, mainly for wind and blowback protection on open driveways. Complaints center on fit on some models and on the fabric and windows holding up over several seasons.
- Keeps snow and wind off the operator
- Straightforward clamp-on installation
- Windows stay clear in cold
- Chute controls remain reachable
- Fit varies by model year
- Fabric and windows degrade over time
- Can rattle or flap in strong wind
Ariens ST28DLE Deluxe SHO 28-Inch
Owners rate it 4.4 out of 5 across 530 ratings, and the pattern is consistent: it throws heavy snow far and starts reliably in cold. Complaints center on weight and price rather than snow-clearing performance.
Questions and answers
- Are these two products alternatives?
- No. One is a cab accessory and the other is a snow blower. The cab only helps if you already own a compatible Ariens machine.
- Will the cab fit the ST28DLE?
- Check the ST28DLE's model number against the cab's fitment list before buying. The cab fits specific TRAK, CLASSIC, COMPACT, DELUXE and PLATINUM model numbers, and fitment is not guaranteed for every Deluxe unit.
- Which is better for a long driveway?
- The ST28DLE. Its 28-inch width and 21-inch intake clear snow in far fewer passes than any accessory can.
- Is the cab worth the extra money?
- It is cheap at $163.95 if you already own a compatible blower and face wind-driven snow. It is not a substitute for a machine.
- Which lasts longer?
- The blower is a durable gas machine with a cast iron gear case, but it needs maintenance. The cab is a fabric-and-steel frame that wears with sun and storage.
- What does the ST28DLE cost compared with the cab?
- $1,649.00 at The Home Depot versus $163.95 at Mowtown Lochen Equipment, both as of November 3, 2026.
