Which is better for pet stains?

The Bissell. Its Steam Pretreat mode is built for tracked-in pet messes, and it scrubs and extracts in one pass. The Sugift can lift wet messes but has no steam or heat to loosen dried stains.

Is the Bissell worth $288 more than the Sugift?

Yes if you clean whole rooms of carpet regularly. The steam, scrubbing and quick-dry modes do work the Sugift cannot. If you only spot-clean stairs and car seats, the Sugift covers that for $111.99.

Which is easier to carry up stairs?

The Sugift. It is a compact portable unit, while the Bissell is a 22.5 lb upright. The Bissell does include a carry handle and a 6-inch Tough Stain Tool for stairs.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

The Bissell lists about 30 minutes in Quick Dry mode. Sugift does not publish a drying time, so expect a normal wet-extraction dry of several hours.

The Bissell carries a 5-year limited warranty. The Sugift carries 1 year on parts and labor. Longer coverage favors the Bissell, though both depend on how often you use them.

Do both clean upholstery?

Yes. The Bissell ships with a 2-in-1 Pet Upholstery Tool, and the Sugift's small 3.5-inch path works on furniture and car seats.
