Is the Ghost 18 worth the upgrade over the Ghost 17?

Yes, mainly on price. The Ghost 18 is $90.00 at Brooks ReStart as of November 3, 2026, while the Ghost 17 is $109.95 at Amazon. You also get the new Ortholite X-60 sockliner and updated mesh upper.

Do the Ghost 18 and Ghost 17 feel the same underfoot?

Largely yes. Both use nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 foam, so the ride is soft and responsive on each. The Ghost 18 adds a plusher sockliner, which changes step-in feel more than the midsole does.

Which is better for daily road running?

The Ghost 18. It has the same cushioning plus a breathable triple jacquard upper and 3M reflectivity on the heel for low-light runs. The Ghost 17 is still a capable daily trainer if you prefer its Black/White look.

Which one lasts longer?

Expect similar mileage from both, since the midsole foam is the same. The Ghost 18's RoadTack outsole uses recycled silica rubber, which Brooks credits for traction and longevity.

Is the Ghost 18 good for walking and standing all day?

Yes. It carries the APMA Seal of Acceptance and PDAC A5500 diabetic shoe coding, and the DNA LOFT v3 foam is soft enough for long daily walks. The Ghost 17 offers the same cushioning without the newer sockliner.

Which colorway should I pick?

The Ghost 18 comes in Off-White, which looks clean but shows dirt. The Ghost 17 comes in Black/White, which hides wear better and suits the gym or office.
