Is the SN8100 worth the extra $60 over the T500?

Only if your motherboard has PCIe 5.0 and you move large files often. In everyday gaming and app loading the gap is small, and the T500 saves you money.

Which is better for a PS5?

The Crucial T500. It is listed as PS5 compatible and ships with a heatsink, which the PS5 requires. The SN8100 listing does not mention PS5 support or a heatsink.

The SN8100 is rated at 700 TBW for 1TB. Crucial does not publish a TBW figure for the T500 in the listed specs, so the SN8100 is the only one with a stated endurance number.

Will the SN8100 run at full speed in my PC?

Only in a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot. In a PCIe 4.0 slot it drops to Gen 4 speeds, close to the T500, so you would pay more for little gain.

Do either need extra power or cables?

No. Both are internal M.2 drives that draw power from the slot. The T500 listing notes no external power supply is needed.

Which is better for video editing or AI work?

The SN8100, because its write speed of 14,000 MB/s cuts time on large project files and model loads. The T500 is fine for lighter editing.
