Which is better for a PS5?

The Crucial T500. It is listed as PS5-compatible and comes with a heatsink, which Sony requires. The SN770 is not listed as PS5-ready and ships bare.

Is the T500 worth the extra money?

For large game installs, video work or PS5 use, yes. The T500 reads up to 7,400 MB/s versus 5,150 MB/s and has DRAM cache. For everyday PC gaming and browsing, the SN770 at $99.99 is the better value.

Neither listing gives endurance ratings. The T500's DRAM cache and thermal protection help it hold speed under sustained load, which matters more for heavy writes than for gaming.

Will the SN770 work in a laptop?

Yes, it is a bare M.2 2280 drive with low power draw. The T500's heatsink adds height, so check clearance before fitting it in a thin laptop.

Which is faster for loading games?

The T500 on paper, at 7,400 MB/s read versus 5,150 MB/s. In practice both cut load times sharply over a hard drive, and the gap is small in most games.

Do I need a heatsink?

On a PS5, yes. In a desktop with airflow, the SN770 runs fine bare. The T500's included heatsink helps in tight cases and under long writes.
