Which is better for schoolwork?

The Dell 3100. It has 32GB of storage, twice the ASUS, and a rated 14 hours of battery, so it lasts a full school day. Both are slow chips, so keep tabs to a minimum.

Is the Dell 3100 worth it over the restored ASUS?

Yes at $44.99 at Woot as of November 8, 2026. You get new condition, double the storage, and a much longer rated battery for less than a typical refurbished price.

Which has better wireless?

The ASUS. It lists 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. The Dell lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but no versions, so the ASUS is the safer bet for newer routers and headphones.

Which lasts longer on a charge?

The Dell. It is rated up to 14 hours and ran almost 10 hours in a video playback test. ASUS gives no battery figure for the C204EE.

Can I use an external monitor with these?

The Dell can, through USB-C DisplayPort Alt mode. The ASUS listing gives no video-out port, so assume the 11.6-inch screen is all you get.

Should I buy a restored laptop at all?

Only if the price is clearly lower and the return window is solid. Here the new Dell is cheaper, so the restored ASUS makes sense mainly if you want Bluetooth 5.0.
