Which lasts longer in storage?

Kirkland states a 10-year shelf life on its spec sheet and 12 years in its description. AmazonBasics states 10 years. Treat them as roughly equal unless you trust the longer Kirkland claim.

Which is cheaper per battery?

AmazonBasics is $15.29 for 48 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, about 32 cents each. No price was given for the Kirkland pack, so compare it at the club before buying.

Are these good for cameras?

Both are standard alkaline cells. They work in low-drain devices like remotes and toys, but cameras and other high-drain gear do better on lithium or rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Do either contain mercury?

Kirkland says no mercury added. AmazonBasics does not state mercury content, though alkaline cells sold in the US are typically mercury-free by law.

Is the Kirkland pack worth the extra?

Only if its club price beats $15.29 for 48. Otherwise the AmazonBasics pack is the better value for the same chemistry.

Kirkland Signature AA Alkaline Batteries 48 ct vs AmazonBasics AA Alkaline Batteries

Both are plain AA alkaline batteries in 48-count packs, so the choice comes down to price and shelf life. The AmazonBasics 48-pack is $15.29 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, and three stores carry it new. Kirkland Signature's 48-pack is sold at warehouse clubs and is usually priced close to that, but its stated shelf life is longer. Buy AmazonBasics for the lowest tracked price; buy Kirkland if you want the longer shelf life and already shop at Costco.
