Questions and answers
- Which is better for schoolwork and office apps?
- The Lenovo. Its 16 GB RAM and 16-inch screen handle many open tabs and side-by-side documents better. The Dell's 8 GB base model can slow down with the same load.
- Is the Lenovo worth about $300 more?
- Yes if you need the RAM, storage and screen size, since upgrading a laptop later is costly or impossible. If you mostly browse and write, the Dell at $499.00 covers it.
- Which is easier to carry?
- The Dell at 3.8 lb and 14 inches. The Lenovo is 4 lb with a 16-inch body, so it needs a larger bag.
- Which has better security features?
- Both are close. The Lenovo uses facial recognition with an IR camera and shutter. The Dell uses a fingerprint reader.
- Does the Dell have a touchscreen and the Lenovo not?
- Correct. The Inspiron 14 is listed with a touchscreen. The IdeaPad Slim 5i is not.
- Which lasts longer on a charge?
- Neither listing gives battery capacity or runtime figures, so compare the rated watt-hours and claimed hours on each model's spec sheet before deciding.
