Questions and answers
- Is the OLED worth the extra $99 over the V2?
- If you play handheld often, yes. The bigger OLED screen, 64GB storage and better kickstand are real upgrades. If the console mostly sits in a dock, the V2 plays the same games for less.
- Do both play the same games?
- Yes. Both run the same Switch library, and both output up to 1080p at 60 fps when docked. The OLED does not run games faster.
- Which has better battery life?
- They are rated the same, about 4.5 to 9 hours depending on the game. The larger OLED screen can pull more power, so expect similar or slightly shorter handheld sessions.
- Do I need a microSD card?
- Likely with the V2, since 32GB fills up after a few large games. The OLED's 64GB gives more room, but big titles still push you toward a card.
- Which is better for tabletop play?
- The OLED. Its full-width adjustable stand holds several angles, while the V2's small flap stand has one position and tips easily.
- Does the OLED have a wired internet option?
- Yes. Its dock has a LAN port, so you can plug in Ethernet. The V2 dock requires a USB adapter for wired play.
