Questions and answers
- Which is better for running?
- The OnePlus Watch 2 has dual-band L1+L5 GPS, which gives more accurate pace and route data. The Galaxy Watch8 counters with running coaching and a larger screen that is easier to read mid-run.
- Which lasts longer on a charge?
- OnePlus rates the Watch 2 at up to 48 hours from its 500 mAh battery. Samsung does not state a figure in this listing, so the OnePlus is the safer bet on paper.
- Is the Galaxy Watch8 worth $20 more?
- Yes if you want a thinner watch, a bigger screen and Samsung's AI health coaching. No if you mainly want GPS accuracy and steel build for less money.
- Which is better for small wrists?
- The Galaxy Watch8. It comes in 40 mm and 44 mm and is Samsung's thinnest Galaxy Watch. The OnePlus Watch 2 is a single 46 mm case at 12.1 mm thick.
- Do both work with Android phones?
- Yes. Both run Wear OS and pair over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Galaxy Watch8 adds more features when paired with a Samsung phone.
- Which is more durable?
- Both use sapphire crystal and meet MIL-STD-810H, and both are 5ATM and IP68 rated. The OnePlus adds a stainless steel frame, which resists dings better than the Galaxy's aluminum.
