The Owala FreeSip Kids is the safer pick for school bags because its lid is leak-proof and it holds 16 oz. The Simple Modern is lighter and dishwasher safe, which helps with daily cleanup.

Which holds more water?

The Owala holds 16 oz and the Simple Modern holds 14 oz. That is a 2 oz difference, about a quarter cup.

Is the Simple Modern worth the extra?

At $22.99 at Walmart as of November 8, 2026, it is a fair price for a dishwasher-safe Disney Princesses bottle. Compare it with the Owala's current store prices on this page before paying more.

Can the Simple Modern go in the dishwasher?

Yes, it is listed as dishwasher safe. The Owala listing does not state dishwasher safety, so hand wash it unless Owala says otherwise.

Both are stainless steel with insulation, so the body should hold up similarly. The Owala's leak-proof lid is the better bet for rough daily use, while printed designs like the Simple Modern's can wear with washing.

Which is better for a younger child?

The Owala's FreeSip spout lets a child sip or use the straw, which suits kids still learning to drink from a bottle. The Simple Modern's straw top is simpler but offers only one way to drink.
