Is the Digital version worse for games?

No. Both run the same games at the same 4K and up to 120fps. The Digital just can't play discs, so every game is a download.

Which has more storage?

The Disc model lists 1 TB. The Digital listing shows both 825 GB and 1 TB, so check the exact model before buying.

Is the Disc model worth the extra?

At the current prices there is no extra: both are $599.00 as of November 5, 2026. The Disc model gives you more options for the same money.

Can I add a disc drive to the Digital later?

Yes. Sony sells a detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive for the PS5 Slim, so the Digital can gain disc playback later.

Which is easier to fit in a TV stand?

The Digital is shorter at 3.1 in versus 3.8 in, and lighter at about 2.6 kg. Both are 14.1 in wide and 8.5 in deep.

Do both come with a controller?

Yes. Both ship with a DualSense wireless controller, HDMI cable, and power cord.

PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Console vs PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Console

Both are the same PS5 Slim console, and the only real difference is the disc drive. The Disc model at $599.00 at StockX as of November 5, 2026 and the Digital model at $599.00 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026 cost the same right now, so the Disc model is the better buy at that price. Buy the Digital only if you never use discs and find it cheaper.
