Shark CarpetXpert Deluxe Carpet Cleaner vs Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner
Buy the Hoover SmartWash+ if you want the simplest full-room carpet cleaning: push to wash, pull to dry, no solution measuring, and it was $189.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026. Buy the Shark CarpetXpert Deluxe if pet stains and spot work matter more, since its StainStriker handheld tool and HEPA filter handle upholstery and odors the Hoover can't. The Hoover's price has swung from $99.47 to $199.99 since November 1, so watch it before buying.

Questions and answers
- Which is better for pet stains?
- The Shark, because its StainStriker handheld tool targets spots on upholstery and stairs and it has an Oxy tank. The Hoover cleans whole carpets well but has no spot tool.
- Which dries carpets faster?
- The Hoover. Its HeatForce extraction and pull-back dry stroke are claimed 35% faster than the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam. The Shark has no heating.
- Is the Hoover worth the extra?
- It is not extra right now: $189.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026 versus $199.99 for the Shark. It is the cheaper and simpler option for full rooms.
- Which is easier to use?
- The Hoover. Auto Mix and the single push-pull motion remove guesswork. The Shark requires mixing solution and switching to the handheld tool for spots.
- Which holds more water?
- The Hoover has a 1 gallon clean tank versus 0.75 gallon on the Shark, so fewer refills. The Shark's listed 30.4 gallon dirty tank is not a realistic residential figure.
- Do either have HEPA filtration?
- Only the Shark lists a HEPA filter. The Hoover's specs do not mention one.
