Which heats a large room better?

They are equal on paper: both are rated 5,000 BTU and about 400 sq ft. Neither is a primary heat source for a big open room, and Sideline buyers report it falls short near 600 sq ft.

Which is easier to install?

The Napoleon Entice 42 is easier. It hangs on the wall and plugs in out of the box, or recesses if you prefer. The Sideline 50 is built for flush recessed mounting, so it needs framing.

Is the Sideline worth saving $410?

Yes if you want a wider flame view and smart-home control. The Sideline is $549.00 at Amazon and the Napoleon is $959.00 at Lowe's as of November 5, 2026.

Which has better smart features?

The Sideline 50. It connects over Wi-Fi and works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The Napoleon Entice 42 ships with a remote only.

The Napoleon has a stated 2-year limited warranty; the Sideline listing states none. Both are electric units with no published life rating, so the warranty is the clearest durability signal.

Can either be hardwired?

The Sideline 50 can be plugged in or hardwired to 120V. The Napoleon Entice 42 is described as plug-in ready; hardwiring is not stated.
