Which is better for a household with disc games?

The Slim Disc bundle. The Digital Edition cannot read discs at all, so any PS5 or PS4 disc you own is useless on it.

Is the Portal worth the extra $79?

If you would use handheld play in another room, yes. The Portal alone sells for around $200, so the bundle effectively throws it in. If you only play on the TV, the Digital Edition is the cheaper buy.

Which has more storage?

The Slim bundle, at 1 TB versus 825 GB. Both accept an M.2 SSD upgrade, which costs about $60 to $100 for 1 TB.

Do both run the same games?

Yes. Both play the same PS5 library at up to 120 FPS on a 120Hz TV. The difference is how you buy games, not what runs.

Is the Digital Edition risky because it is used?

Retro vGames lists it as tested and cleaned with a 1-year warranty, so the risk is mainly cosmetic wear. A new Slim bundle carries the full manufacturer warranty.

Which holds its value better?

The Slim Disc bundle, because disc consoles sell used more easily and the Portal adds resale value. Digital consoles lose value faster.
