Which is better for someone with a big disc collection?

The Disc Edition. It plays physical PS5 and PS4 discs and 4K Blu-ray movies, which the Digital Edition cannot do at all.

Is the Digital Edition worth the savings?

At $399.20 versus $400.00 as of November 5, 2026, the savings are about 80 cents. The Disc Edition gives you more storage and a disc drive for nearly the same money, so the Digital Edition only makes sense if you never use discs.

Do they perform the same?

Yes. Both use the same AMD Zen 2 CPU, RDNA 2 GPU, 16GB GDDR6 memory, and support 4K at up to 120fps with ray tracing. The difference is the drive and storage, not the speed.

Which has more storage?

The Disc Edition, with a 1TB SSD versus 825GB in the Digital Edition. Both can be expanded with an M.2 NVMe SSD.

Can I add a disc drive to the Digital Edition later?

No. The Digital Edition has no disc drive and cannot take one. If you want discs, buy the Disc Edition.

Both should last similarly. The Disc Edition has a disc drive, an extra mechanical part that can wear out, but the rest of the hardware is the same.
